While most stores have already sold out of their Wii U pre-order allotment for both the Basic $300 and Deluxe $350 models, there are a couple of stores that still have one or both available as of Sunday, September 16.
Walmart is currently the only retailer we can find that has both the Basic and Deluxeversions of the Wii U in stock. Walmart being Walmart though, it also has its own special bundle available with your choice of Wii U game and Wii Remote Plus controller for $399.
Meanwhile, GameStop is still sold out of the Deluxe model but still has the Basic in stock for $299.99. When we spoke with GameStop store managers today and yesterday, they were not confident that the stock of the Basic model would not last much longer. If you are looking for a Deluxe model though, they are willing to upgrade the pre-order if they get more in stock.
Other stores such as Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, Sears and Kmart are all sold out of both models. Amazon is not participating in Wii U pre-orders at all at this time due to an on-going dispute between the online retailer and Nintendo that neither side is willing to talk about.
