Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U to run on Nintendo servers
While Nintendo still has not explained its online services for the Wii U in detail, we got our first clue over the weekend in the form ofCapcom's Christian Svensson revealing that the console maker will be running its own server for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

"For Wii U we're using Nintendo's servers (which I'm very happy about) and I'm not sure how they're set up," Svennson wrote in response to a question at Capcom Unity.
"Candidly, we're still waiting for Wii U builds in our office to play with and there's still many moving parts that no one except for the team members has first hand experience with at this point. We have six months until release (roughly). We'll have a lot more detail on these and other questions (most of which we DO know the answers to) as we move through the communications/marketing campaign and run-up to launch."
This provides us our first major clue as to how the Nintendo Network will be setup. Whether this will be repeated for all games or a select few is question though we have a feeling it will depend on the publisher. Electronic Arts, for example, is notorious for wanting to host the servers for all of its games.
Monster Hunter Tri currently runs on KDDI-hosted servers which Svensson explained will be closed down at some point though it sounds like it will be after Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate launches next March.
"I was adamant that we not do so until we had a proper alternative title to allow people to migrate to if they wish," Svensson said. "It would have been bad just cut people off with no other place for them to hunt, in spite of the significant costs of operation."
Capcom currently has no plans to allow Monster Hunter Tri players to transfer their player progress from the Wii to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the 3DS or Wii U.
