It appears that Wii U gamers will miss out the Call of Duty: Elite upon launch, as it was reported that the game will not be accessible on the said Nintendo console. A representative of Activision told gaming new website Kotaku that the online platform will support Wii U someday, but not at launch.
We are currently evaluating options for Call of Duty Elite to support Nintendo’s Wii U game systems, however Call of Duty Elite for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not support this platform when the game launches on November 13th.
This means that players will not be able to have the Call of Duty Elite, at least at launch, and they may be skipped over for the game’s downloadable content. In addition, Activision’s season pass and DLC map packs were announced only for Xbox 360.
Call of Duty Elite Features and DLCs
The Call of Duty Elite will sport a number of revisions to Black Ops II’s existing features, in addition to new offerings. Some of these include dedicated Zombies channel where players can monitor their personal statistics and tablet support for Call of Duty Elite TV. The latter will feature developer tips and many more.
Prior to this, it was reported that all Elite features will be available for free. Activision also revealed that four planned map packs and Zombies add-ons for the game will be released next year. Each pack will cost $15 each, or gamers could get it all using a $50 season pass. However, the game developer declined to give further details about the game.
Last year, Elite was launched with Modern Warfare 3 and carried a $50 yearly price tag. The service’s paid subscription granted players a handful of downloadable content that are delivered monthly. In relation to this, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg explained why they dropped the subscription for the Elite features:
We’ve learned a lot in our first year of Call of Duty Elite, and we’re very proud that we over delivered on our commitment of playable content to our premium members. What we have realized is that several of the Call of Duty Elite services which are currently only available to our premium members for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are things that would further unite, engage, and delight our player community. So, we are going to make them free for Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Black Ops II will be released on November 13 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game’s Wii U version, on the other hand, will be available five days later as a launch title for the gaming console.
