Earlier pegged for a release sometime in March next year, Sega’s online beat ‘em up, titled Anarchy Reigns, has received exact release dates for the US and Europe, and they fall in January 2013. Developed by PlatinumGames, the title has already been released in Japan, coming to the easterly island on July 5 of this year for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Atsushi Inaba, producer for the game, says on the developer’s blog that the team set out to create an experience with elements that no other game had yet delivered. In fact, Anarchy Reigns allows up to 16 players to battle it out in multiplayer matches. And there are several game modes in which players can test their skills against opponents from all over the globe.
What the game delivers is melee-based online multiplayer combat through several interesting characters. An almost completely cybernetic woman, a chainsaw-wielding ex-military expert in all types of combat and a guy named Zero in a suit that looks like a cross between Isaac Clark’s RIG and the CryNet Nanosuit from Crysis are just a few characters that make up the game’s roster. It delivers all this in what Inaba describes as a drag-out brawl.
The game itself is set in a future ruled by mutants and features an open world, something not generally expected in action brawlers. And judging by the gameplay trailer, which incorrectly says fall 2011, there’s also cheesy small talk and a bunch of enthralling weapons thrown into the mix to make things more interesting.
Published by Sega, the release date for Anarchy Reigns is set for January 8, 2013 in North America and for January 11, 2013 in Europe. It comes bearing a price tag of 29.99 USD (approx. Rs. 1,610) or 19.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 1,720) or 24.99 euros (approx. Rs. 1,745).
