Assassin's Creed 3 Is Ubisoft's Most Pre-Ordered Game Ever

The pre-order numbers for Assassin's Creed 3 look very encouraging to Ubisoft. Today the company revealed that AC3 is the most pre-ordered Ubisoft title ever, with twice the amount of orders as Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Ubisoft didn't disclose the exact amount of pre-orders for AC3. It must be a very large number, though, considering that Revelations was the previous record holder for the company. AC3 passed Brotherhood's total way back in March.

AC3 brings the series to the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Players will experience the era through the eyes of Connor, a brand-new character. He'll participate in famous battles from the war, assassinate targets on both sides of the conflict, and even command his own ship on the high seas.

There are a lot of plausible reasons why this game has racked up so many pre-orders. For starters, it's the first full-fledged sequel to the series in years. Unlike Revelations and Brotherhood, it introduces a brand new era for players to explore. The Revolutionary War setting itself has piqued the curiosity of many Americans (myself include). Flashy new features like ship battles and co-op aren't hurting matters.

The PS3 and 360 versions of AC3 will launch in North America on October 30th and in Europe on the 31st. The PC and Wii U editions will follow in

'Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge' confirmed for Wii U launch, full hands-on preview

On Thursday evening, Nintendo of America confirmed that Team Ninja’s “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge” would be a launch title forNintendo Wii U come November 18.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge
Featuring more weapons, exclusive game content, and much more, “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge” looks to deliver the “Ninja Gaiden” experience that, well, “Ninja Gaiden 3” failed to do so earlier this year.
We went hands-on with “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge” earlier this summer. Find our hands-on impressions here.
While “Ninja Gaiden 3” for Xbox 360 and PS3 only featured three weapons, two of which became available via downloadable content, “Razor’s Edge” has a total of six weapons – sword, claws, scythe, dual katana, staff, and kuari-gama.
Each weapon has its own strength and weakness when used in battle. In addition to an increase of weapons, Ninpo attacks also see an increase from one to a total of three.
Here is a breakdown of the new features, game enhancements, and exclusive content available in “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge”:
Ayane as a playable character: In previous versions of the game, Ayane appeared only briefly in one cut scene. Now players can help her progress through her own exclusive chapters using a special set of weapons and Ninpo attacks.
Character-progression system: Using Karma points earned during game play, players can upgrade weapons and Ninpo, learn new moves, increase their HP level and unlock new character costumes.
Ryu and Ayane playable in co-op mode: For the first time, players can use Ryu or Ayane to represent themselves in the game’s online co-op mode.
Test of Valor battle areas: Each chapter includes a hidden battle area called Test of Valor. Upon finding hidden Crystal Skulls, players will be transported to these areas to face down waves of enemies and classic NINJA GAIDEN boss characters with new moves.
Wii U GamePad Functionality: Using the Wii U GamePad, players can easily change weapons or Ninpo attacks, and also quickly reference the button inputs required for various combo attacks without ever stopping the action.
Additional Playable Characters: After the launch of the game, additional playable characters will become available as free downloadable content. More information about these characters will be revealed at a later time.
More Tenacious Enemies: The Wii U version of the game restores enemies’ ability to fight when severely wounded, requiring players to stay nimble with their battle strategies.

PS3 is number one in hardware and software sales in Europe: 2012 and 2011

The PS3 is number one in console and game sales in EuropeNintendo, in its quarterly financial reporting provided some market analysis that goes deep into the software and hardware sales of its competitors, Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Nintendo’s report reveals some interesting bits of information, which really isn’t all that shocking or surprising.
Nintendo has a habit of hiring a bunch of research firms across the globe to pull software and retail hardware sales figures for the company on an annual basis. It’s a rather expensive endeavor, considering even the US’s pre-canned NPD report costs thousands of dollars.
Europe is notoriously a tough territory to capture sales figures due to obvious reasons. There are market research firms such as GFK Chart-Track (European version of NPD), which collects data from many of the European countries, but not all of them. Every year, Nintendo commissions research firms like GFK Chart-Track, from 14 different territories spanning: “the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Austria and Switzerland.”
According to the report, software sales wise it appears that the PS3 is dominating the charts with nine titles occupying the top 20, while the Xbox 360 only has three titles and Nintendo has five Wii titles.

Xbox gamers love Minecraft more than Call of Duty, Halo 4 is the most expensive game by Microsoft

The Halo franchise is Microsoft’s flagship IP and has become the face of Xbox. With Bungie, the creators of the Halo universe breaking away from Microsoft, many feared that the company would either ditch the series or hand it off to the wrong team. However, recent glimpses of Halo 4 prove that the company is investing heavily into the game.
Xbox gamers love Minecraft more than Call of Duty, Halo 4 is the most expensive game by MicrosoftIn an interesting interview with Polygon , Microsoft Game Studios head, Phil Spencer stated that Halo 4 is the most expensive game ever made by Microsoft. He said, “Absolutely. Nothing’s even close.” The company put a team together from scratch and tied a hefty marketing budget to the game.
According to Spencer, the Halo franchise is the single most expensive entertainment product at Microsoft is is worth $3 billion. Kiki Wolfkill, executive producer at 343 Industries stated that a main goal of the studio was to stay as close to the formula as possible.
Check out this recently released video of the Longbow multiplayer map narrated by 343 Industries.

In other news, the latest Xbox 360 Live weekly activity chart shows something very interesting. According to Microsoft’s weekly activity report, Minecraft has now surpassed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in play time.
This means that more gamers are stacking 8-bit 3D blocks than playing Modern Warfare 3, which was once considered to be the most played online shooter. It may also have something to do with the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is ready to hit the store shelves in a couple weeks.
Minecraft also placed first ahead of The Walking Dead in top arcade purchases recently. The game is said to have surpassed four million in sales alone on the Xbox 360.

Persona 4 Golden for PS Vita Gets English Trailer

Persona 4, when it launched for the PlayStation 2 back in 2008, was regarded as one of the best Japanese RPGs to come out in a long, long time. Fans loved the charm, the premise, the storyline, the length and the mechanics within the title. Atlus was responsible for developing the title and eventually bringing it to the States.
Now, Atlus is doing the same thing again with Persona 4 Golden for the PlayStation Vita. This is a remake of Persona 4 with remastered visuals, new personas, more vocal dialogue, new online features, collectibles and a whole lot more.
The trailer you see at the head of this posts represents a broad stroke over what you’ll be doing in the world of Persona should you elect to pick this game up. Sure, there’s dungeon crawling and turn-based battle mechanics, but there’s also a social code, going to school, meeting love interests and riding scooters.
Persona 4 is wonderful, really. And it’s one of the PS Vita games I’ve been looking forward to most since its initial announcement. Persona 4 Golden is set to ship on November 20th of this year.

Resident Evil 6 update arrives on Xbox 360 and PS3 in mid-December

Capcom has stepped forward to man up, sharing news that the free Resident Evil 6 title update which wasannounced earlier in October will only be making its way to the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms from the middle of December onwards, leaving us with one less thing to rage about when Christmas rolls around. This particular update will include the foreboding ‘No Hope’ difficulty level alongside co-op gameplay for Ada Wong’s campaign that will come unlocked right from the beginning of the game.
Capcom will use this situation to include two mechanical tweaks into Resident Evil 6 as well, letting players widen the camera’s field of view which is ideal when you have a horde of brain-hungry undead knocking at your door. Apart from that, the update is said to enable the English language audio to be work alongside subtitles in alternative languages, a feature that was previously found only on movies on DVD and Blu-ray. No idea on details for the PC version though.
